Employee Volunteers

The tradition of community support runs deep at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX), and employee volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. Because of this, we strive daily to establish meaningful opportunities to connect our employees with their communities and our local partners in impactful ways.  Our signature programs include:

Matching Dollars Program – For every volunteer hour that a BCBSTX employee spends with a qualified, nonprofit organization, that partner receives $20 per hour, up to a total of $2,000 annually. In 2015, 83 community partners received a total of $101,380 in matching dollars.

Blue Corps  In 2015, BCBSTX employees once again made us proud. Over 1,875 Blue Corps volunteers were active in Texas communities and donated 33,021 personal volunteer hours.

Blue Role Model – With more than 6,000 employees, BCBSTX encourages all employees to “live our purpose” by knowing our business, giving back to communities and taking responsibility for their personal health. In completing these activities, they become Blue Role Models. In 2015, employees throughout Texas served as community educators, supported charities by participating in health events and gave time to groups such as: Abilene Meals on Wheels, It’s Time Texas, Patriot Paws, Community Partners of Dallas and Promise House.
